Widget privacy guide
This page helps OnlyScreenshot customers explain the widget correctly to their own end users and prepare a minimum compliance text.

When to use this guide
Use this guide if you install the OnlyScreenshot widget on a client website, an e-commerce store or your own web application and want to explain simply what the widget collects and when it does so.
This guide does not replace tailored legal advice, but it provides a stronger starting text aligned with the product’s actual behaviour.
Key points to disclose to your users
- The widget sends data only when the user performs a voluntary action, such as clicking “Report issue”.
- The widget may collect page screenshots, URL, browser, operating system, screen resolution, viewport, user agent, console errors and the message typed by the user.
- The widget is not designed as an advertising profiling tool.
- Screenshots and technical data are used only to diagnose technical issues, bugs and malfunctions.
Suggested short notice for a privacy policy or support page
To make technical issue reporting easier, this website uses a widget that, only when the user voluntarily chooses to send a report, may collect a screenshot of the page, the URL, browser, operating system, screen resolution, device technical data, possible console errors and the message entered by the user. These data are processed solely for the purpose of diagnosing and resolving the reported issue.
Suggested extended notice
When you use the “Report issue” function, we may collect the data needed to understand the malfunction you are reporting, including page screenshots, exact URL, browser, operating system, screen resolution, viewport, user agent, possible JavaScript console errors and the message you enter. Collection takes place at the time of your voluntary action and is intended to enable technical support, debugging and ticket handling. These data are shared with the technical provider OnlyScreenshot, which supports collection and organisation of reports on behalf of the website operator.
Cookie and consent note
In your specific context, it may be necessary to assess whether merely loading the script or using particular widget activation modes requires additional privacy/cookie disclosures or, in some cases, consent mechanisms.
If the widget is used strictly as a technical tool triggered by the user and without advertising or tracking purposes, the legal picture is usually simpler; however, the concrete setup of the website where the widget is installed must still be assessed.
Recommended best practices
- Add a reference to the widget in the website privacy policy.
- Avoid asking users to submit health, banking or other special-category personal data unless strictly necessary.
- Limit widget use to pages or areas where technical issue reporting actually makes sense.
- Create internal processes to delete reports that are no longer needed or that contain excessive data.
